Long Live Blue Virginia!

UPDATE, 4/18: All commenting, posting, and new user registration has been disabled.

As many of you may have noticed in the last few weeks, the editors of Blue Commonwealth have been double-posting between BC and Blue Virginia. That's because... we're moving!

Now that Blue Virginia is back to a community format (in the spirit of the old Raising Kaine), we all figure that both communities are best served by merging. It will mean more opinions, more commentary, more ideas, and in general a more vibrant and active community.

So what does this means practically?
1) Blue Commonwealth will be turning off comments and new posts on April 18th.
2) Everyone reading this, if they haven't already should head over to Blue Virginia, http://www.bluevirginia.us and register for an account.
3) Readers, posters, and commentors at BC should start "transferring" their participation over to Blue Virginia.

Lest you be worried about editorial input, policies, etc, fear not! The entire board of BC is now on the board of BV where their talent can be combined with the likes of Lowell and Miles. Everyone here is happy about the move, and we hope you will be too.

So say goodbye to Blue Commonwealth, and say hello to Blue Virginia. Long live Blue Virginia!

Make your predictions now! Record them for posterity. Whoever gets closest to the actual result will be recognized as the next Larry Sabato, for better or worse!

Weigh in on Gov, Lt. Gov, HoD primaries, pick your poison.

I'll start off with a bold prediction: Steve Shannon will clench the Democratic nomination for Attorney General with close to 100% of the vote! Just kidding - pretty sure he's not even on the ballot.

Leslie Byrne Endorses Mike Signer for Lt. Gov

        RICHMOND, VA - The Mike Signer for Lt. Governor campaign is pleased to announce that former Congresswoman and 2005 Democratic Lieutenant Governor nominee Leslie Byrne has endorsed Signer for Lieutenant Governor. Byrne is a Fairfax resident and was the first woman elected to Congress from Virginia. In 2005, she defeated three opponents to win the Democratic primary despite being outspent three to one. Byrne announced her support for Mike on the Capitol grounds, where she served as a long time delegate and senator in the Virginia legislature.

        "Mike has the fire in the belly to defeat Bill Bolling," said Byrne.  "He's a strong progressive who will fight-and win-on the great Democratic values of social justice and economic fairness.  He's done it before, when he was senior strategist to Tom Perriello in his race, and he'll do it again this November."

Bowerbank Drops Out, Endorses Wagner

Russell County Board of Supervisors member Jon Bowerbank announced this afternoon that he is withdrawing from the Democratic primary for Lt. Gov. He also took the additional step of endorsing Jody Wagner for the post. This leaves the primary, which once stood at 5 candidates, now at 2: Ms. Wagner and Mike Signer.

Statement from the Bowerbank campaign:

"For the past year and a half, I have traveled the length and breadth of our great Commonwealth. I have been inspired by the people of Virginia, the commitment of the various candidates and elected officials I have met along the way and by the many people who are such an important part of our democracy ... committed volunteers, activists, reporters, editors and bloggers just to name a few.

I have had the pleasure of occupying a front row seat at numerous major political events, debates and forums. I have spent a significant amount of time getting to know the other candidates for various offices. I have also learned a great deal about the issues that confront the people and institutions of our Commonwealth.
