Moran: Adopting and Adapting Obama's Tactics

by: Eileen

Tue Apr 07, 2009 at 08:09:34 AM EDT

"New Obamalike organizing platform for @Moran4Governor, could be online gamechanger www.OrganizeVirginia.com #VA-Gov", writes @VAGovernor on Twitter.

Launched less than 10 days ago, already the first 500 grassroots volunteers have signed up on Brian Moran's new, innovative online organizing system, continuing to build grassroots momentum for the campaign. Similar to the hugely successful my.BarackObama.com, the system builds an online platform where Virginia Democrats can organize to elect Brian Moran. Organize Virginia allows volunteers to form networks among friends; organize through groups and events for canvassing, phone banking and other activities; and create personal fundraising pages. All of these activities build local organizations for the campaign.

CNN featured the launch of Organize Virginia saying "Democratic hopeful Brian Moran has become the first candidate of the 2009 cycle to launch an online social network - and it doesn't stray far from President Obama's winning model."

Brian's online grassroots support is very wide and multi-faceted. Facebook pages in support of Brian Moran are multiplying almost as quickly as public endorsements for Brian, and "Endorse-Fest 2009" adds to its list almost daily.

Raising Moran, a grassroots community blog run by bloggers throughout the Commonwealth including every major blog in the Hampton Roads area and most if not all of the Virginia Democratic blogosphere's female contingency, has just produced its second weekly E-newsletter sent to its fast growing list of online subscribers.

Speaking as one of the 16 bloggers at Raising Moran (more bloggers to be added soon!), the job is an extraordinarily easy one! Our candidate, Brian Moran, has an exemplary and long-standing records of service to the Commonwealth from which to draw. It's so easy to get excited about his campaign and now with these great online tools in place, a virtual Miracle Gro has been applied to the grassroots!
