Thank you, and Amen
A beautiful post.

The misappropriation of the meaning of the Minutemen and of the American tradition is an active industry today, sponsored by shadowy self-aggrandizing elitists who think to direct any current dissatisfaction and anger against our system and leaders, when they should be the targets themselves. America was founded in violence, and is perhaps one of the most bellicose nations in the world today, notwithstanding how the residents of Somalia or Afghanistan conduct their affairs---- and yet, we have also one of the finest traditions of self-government that has ever existed.

Ours was the template for modern democracy and for self-government, established by common sense as well as by arms, based on an abiding understanding of how to limit individual rights for the common good, thus securing those rights for each one of us.  Such democracy requires an adult citizenry.  We also have a Constitution "to establish domestic tranquility."  What are we doing to ourselves?

We do not just inherit this world from our predecessors---- we borrow it from our children.

Agree, Teddy...
It's a wonderful post... Done only as teacherken can.

"One person, one vote" died at the hands of SCOTUS, January 21, 2010

It's the humility of his sentiments that make
it so powerful.

Couldn't agree more. Beautifully done.

And it prompted some wonderful discussion on dkos, too.

And this is a man who teaches our children.....
We are sooo blessed..... Thanks Ken for all you do !!

I think those on the "other side" who do truly love our country...
and we must remember that, in their way, they do, are experiencing the denial stage of the grieving process.

When the most radical of them achieve the kind of shining humility that teacherken evinces, I'll believe we're healing as a nation and...that they are no longer dangerous.
