Bath County isn't Leesburg or Richmond in terms of density
And Charlottesville , but I'm concerned, having been down to Charlottesville, that although these are college towns, its the home for Virginia plantations.  That's the main draw of Charlottesville, Monticello, Montpelier, Ash-Lawn (Jefferson,Madison and Monroe homes) in addition to being the place of UVA.  And Deeds projections himself as more in tune with the plantation aspect, not in endorsing slavery but more endorsing horse country, where the wealthy like Christopher Reeve go to escape. On top of that. is the fact that Deeds is letting others make his case for him. I learned about why McDonnell is terrible and why Deeds is great through the blogs such as this one, then he has the big guns,Clinton,T-Mac,Biden,Gore, come in and campaign for him. Clinton's reasons for why I should vote for Deeds, don't include any of Deeds' positions. As the Kennedy Nixon debate showed, its all about projections.  Nixon should've shaved. He had everything going for him, the V-P, the successful Kitchen debates, and he basically ignored the fact he was sick and in the hospital and looked gaunt, and needed to get in shape. Kennedy was on cortizone and that made him him look healthier than he was because a side affect of the medicine was gaining weight. And he was a pro at TV. He just ran circles around Nixon. As Obama did McCain. Both Obama and Kennedy knew what they wanted, how to get there. Creigh is unsure what to do or how to get to Richmond, and it just seems more like he benefited more from having two NoVA candidates in the race.

You missed my point on my Truman comment, he would've never gotten to that point, had he not made a decision to go to War in Europe. He made an executive decision, Deeds, not so much. I'm not saying I'm going to vote for McDonnell, but after writing letters to the Senators  on why we need a public option, I can't say I'm going to vote for anyone who isn't willing to sell, the Bath county factor again, to his constituency, that got him where he is in the first place. You can't have fear of failure and expect to win.

actually, I supported McAuliffe back then.
And I praised him (McA).  But I have always liked Creigh.  Then, after the primary, I wrote "we are all Deeds supporters now."  I believe we still are.

"One person, one vote" died at the hands of SCOTUS, January 21, 2010

bull-hockey
1) Deeds has been straightforward on where he stands on issues.  On some he is very progressive, on others he is not

2) Comparing Truman as a candidate in 1948, when he had the bully pulpit of the Presidency, to a man who is a State Senator and finding the latter lacking misses the point of why a number of editorial boards of papers of importance in the state find Deeds like Truman -  he IS plain spoken, saying what he thinks.  He can be as tough as nails when required.

You seem to want to simplify everything -  I am tempted to comment about what that might indicate, but I will leave that to the imagination of the reader.

And for what it is worth, many people do NOT vote for someone because of their positions, but because of how they react to the person.  A majority of the American people preferred the positions of Mondale to those of Reagan, when presented without the candidate's name attached, but Mondale won only MN and DC.

And to say Creigh has fear of failure is palpably ridiculous.

This is my world and welcome to it

I'm only going what you're quoting the Richmond Free Press
And they compare him to Truman, and Harry deserves better treatment than that, cause he knew how to fight, here is you interjecting in your own cut and paste:
It is not even a close call - and this editorial was written AFTER the debate which contained the remarks that so upset some.

The other is from The Richmond Free Press, (apologize I cannot give a direct link for the editorial), the major African American paper in the Commonwealth.  Allow me to quote from their powerful editorial.  They note they did not endorse Deeds in the primary.  They then write

That was you,and then the editorial of RFP.

In our endorsement editorial in the primary, we lauded Virginia for its "huge progressive step when it voted for Barack Obama and contributed to his historic win for the presidency."  We also observed that the Obama victory "marked a phenomenal break with the past" and that "We must keep up this momentum of hope and change: Not only for Virginia, but for the future of the Nation."

We feel strongly that Sen. Deeds is convincingly committed to reinforcing this momentum.   Conversely, we know that Bob McDonnell's ultimate ambition is to throw a monkey wrench into progressive movements.

Let me skip ahead to this:

Creigh Deeds is an authentic, decent man, with moderate sensibilities.  With a self-effacing demeanor that often defies the hype found in much of today's politics, Sen. Deeds is a real, unpretentious, regular guy who takes responsibility for what he says and does.  He reminds us of Harry Truman.

More important, Sen. Deeds' record shows that he has come to embrace many views and aspirations that are usually expressed in Virginia's growing urban communities.  He is pro-education and pro-public safety.  His opposition to the display of unquestionably racist Confederate flag on the state license plates reflects a man who values tolerance and respect for American principles.  We also are impressed with his pledge to bring economic justice to Virginia.  ("As Governor, I'll make it a personal commitment to aggressively recruit more minority-owned businesses for government contracts," he wrote in a letter to the Free Press.  "We will exceed the Kaine administration's goals for state contract expenditures that go to these businesses.")

So you're backing the Truman quote here, but now you're fighting with me on how Truman had advantages? Sounds like a classic case of you were for it before you were against it.

But let's get off the Truman point for a second, let's go with the "defies the hype, found in much of today's politics" hype like oh I don't know, introducing us to your family, telling us the voting public what you believe in addition to your negative adds? Hype like not actively courting Northern Virginia. Truman would've never allowed it to get this far. I had put at least $20 in the coffers of Deeds, I'm really sorry I did that.

Further, I am not trying to simplify anything, my vote should not be taken for granted, Creigh if not having a fear of failure has this I'm not listening approach. A great story about his coordination with the WH, or lack thereof, in todayWaPO.  Corzine and Owens are the anti-Deeds candidates, and its no surprise they are on their way to winning.

Come on...
How can you say, with a straight face, that
Corzine and Owens are the anti-Deeds candidates, and its no surprise they are on their way to winning.

without mentioning that a) both NJ (Corzine) and NY (Owens) are way bluer than Virginia and, even more important, b) both Corzine and Owens have loads of help from the third party candidates who, in both cases, are siphoning votes from the Republican nominee.

And yet, despite all that "help", Corzine is still a long way from being a shoo-in; some of the polls are showing Christie on top, some Corzine and all are within the margin of error.

Deeds is not running a good campaign -- sometimes, I think that his advisers must be plants from McDonnell -- but, if he had the kind of "help" that Owens and Corzine have, he'd, probably, win in his sleep.
