He Really Should be Proud to be a Democrat
I worked my butt off to turn Virginia blue and our politicians should show some appreciation for what we and the party stand for - not trying to score points by placating business interests or other conservative interests.  I think that our party identification is a good thing and will lead to more votes than it may lose.

If the Unions can rightfully be pissed off when Democratic candidates have signs that omit the Union bug, than why can't our party insist on having its name on our-supported candidates' signs?

Steve needs to be strong.

That doesn't answer my question
What makes Steve Shannon so special? Hardly any candidate for office puts their party affiliation on their signs. Why does Jody Wagner get a pass? Will Creigh Deeds go back to his familiar 'Deeds for Virginia' now that the primary is over? No one on the GOP ticket has Republican anywhere on their signs. But forget about the other 99.9% of politicians out there...this is all Steve Shannons fault!

You Must be Kidding
I have put up yard signs in my own yards and those of others for decades.  Sometimes the signs give the party affiliation, sometimes they do not.  Sometimes this is strategic, sometimes this is not.  What it NEVER reflects is whether or not a candidate is loyal to his party.

This is a ridiculous premise (that failure to have party affiliation on one's sign indicates a lack of party loyalty)...

Brian Moran encouraged Steve Shannon to run for the House of Delegates.  Ask Brian if he thinks Steve is a good Democrat!   My Obama sign didn't have his party affiliation on it.  Is he not a good Democrat?

This is just ridiculous.

Huh? This is a progressive site, rights?
I don't know that progressive politics have to do with Brian Moran - progressives don't pander to the right-wing, gun lovers, or the Va. Retail Auto Dealers Association over the priorities of the people.  What's better about Creigh Deeds is that he's a populist first and a pragmatist second - in other words he's driven by his own beliefs, not driven by what may garner the most votes, such as Moran's "Droopy Drawers Act" support or his support to keep gay and lesbian students groups from being able to congregate in their schools after classes.

losing the argument so you change the subject
I don't remember you as a part either of the larger community discussion group nor the current editorial board, so I am not quite sure why you think you get to define the nature of this site.

But that is a discussion for a different thread.  You were effectively accusing Steve Shannon of not being a good Democrat because he does not have the word on his signs.  So what?  You have been presented with multiple examples of why that does not mean anything, yet you persist.

Somehow you seem to think than someone who does not agree with you on every issue is neither a good Dem nor a progressive.  In that case you have one choice, run for office yourself and put your views to the test.

I have yet to vote for a candidate with whom I agree on every issue, and I just turned 63.

And I would also argue that you mischaracterize Creigh on both populism and pragmatism.

But what do I know, after all, since I disagree with you, right?

This is my world and welcome to it
